Many people think of meditation as something you can only do in a seated, cross-legged position or with a religious or spiritual prayer in mind. While these can both be components of meditation, all individuals meditate without knowing it on a daily basis. Meditations are focused thoughts allowing you to reach a new state of mind or accomplish something in your life. Most often these everyday thoughts and meditations go unnoticed (ie. I want to become healthier, I want to find a better work/life balance, I want to focus on self-started projects I never seem to get done, I want to be more in touch with the spiritual part of me). I work with individuals to help them become more aware of these everyday thoughts and meditations that come naturally and help clients to focus the meditations and make them more useful to the thinker. Counseling can assist you in becoming more aware of these life changes you’d like to make and help you understand how useful, everyday meditation can get you there.
Breathwork means becoming more aware of the oxygen flowing in and out of your body and using this oxygen for improved emotional and physical wellness. Breathing can be a exercise useful in calming anxieties, relaxing, managing pain, and relieving stress and depression symptoms. There are many emotional and physical health benefits to using your breath in a therapeutic manner. I help clients learn guided relaxation and breathing exercises and techniques that can be used in your everyday life for these purposes.
